New "Ask a Reiki Teacher" Questions

I have been a Reiki Master Sensei for 10 + years now. I have been asked many good, thought provoking questions. What follows are a few questions I was asked this week:

(Aug 21st) Reiki questions:

Q. Do you ever get sick after a treatment?
A. It has happened, but not in a very long time. When I was first studying Reiki I did become ill after a treatment and learned firsthand the importance of grounding properly. 

Q. How long does it take to learn Reiki?
A. Excellent and not so easy to answer question. As I’ve said before anyone can learn Reiki; it’s usually taught in “levels” with required time between to practice and become used to the energy. I usually take at least 2 full (8 -10 hour) days to teach Reiki level 1 and require the student to wait at least 6 months before taking level 2. Level 2 takes a full week at a fast pace and so on, you get the idea. I have seen some people offering to teach 3 levels in a weekend course, but this is not how I was taught, and don’t think it is beneficial. I feel the students need time to process the new information and become used to the energy in a gradual, easier process.

Q. What is the oddest animal you have ever treated?
A. Hmm, let me think? I don’t consider animals “odd” Hahaha, but I think I know what you are asking.  I have treated cattle, buffalo, ostriches, lamas, prizewinning horses, mules, goats, chickens, dogs and cats of course. Also snakes, spiders, turtles, birds, fish, dolphins, and lizards.

Q. If I learn Reiki can I treat myself?
A. Of Course! The best thing about learning and becoming attuned to Reiki is the energy is always within, working on you from the inside out. Usually after one becomes attuned to Reiki they undergo a “45 day inner cleansing process” which really facilities healing on many levels.
