Is All Reiki The Same?
Theoretically it is. But is all music the same? Is all art or science? No, of course not. What makes these things different is what makes Reiki different too. Natural talent, practice and a working knowledge all play a part in Reiki. Anyone can learn Reiki, but how serious one takes it and how much time is devoted to practice is very important. Here are a few suggested questions to ask when looking for a Reiki provider or teacher.
What type of Reiki do you practice and where did you study? There are a multitude of Reiki schools and each has it own merits. Find out why they studied and where. Example: I took my accredited courses from the San Antonio College. I started my Reiki path to combat grief after my husbands sudden death. I wasn’t looking for a career change, I just wanted to feel better. Plus I always stress to my clients I didn't get my diploma from Ebay. (Yes, you can buy a Reiki certificate online, but don’t!) How long have you been practicing Reiki? Do not discount someone that is new to Reiki. Enthusiasm counts! I have been a Reiki Master since 2004 and have seen many students start out with enthusiasm and build amazing practices in a short amount of time. How long was your class? I listed this because I know from personal experience what a difference this can make. Depending on where you are on your healing path, you maybe able to lean Reiki in a weekend, but more than likely you will not. To really understand Reiki you need more than a few days. I constantly meet people who were attuned to Reiki, sometimes to teacher level, but who have not had any formal training or education. This is the defining moment, if you do not have a good foundation or understanding you will not be able to grasp Reiki or the principles of energy healing, client relations or make sense of it. How often do you practice? Also very important, how often are they practicing? Is this a whim or a way of life? Reiki can be a life changing tool, but it must be used. Practice, practice, practice! Do you do any other healing modulates? Most healers have a “tool box” of sorts they pull from. I always stress to my students that the more we learn, the more we have to offer. But traditional Reiki, coupled with a good understanding of the chakra system and the body can be more than enough. I hope this helps you find a Reiki practitioner or teacher in your area and you are able to experience the miracle of Reiki.
