I have been a Reiki Master Sensei for 10 + years now. I have been asked many good, thought provoking questions. What follows are a few questions I was asked these last few weeks. To read more questions click here.
Questions for Sept 5, 2014 Q. What’s the difference between Reiki energy and any other healing energy? A. There are many different types of energy available to us. Reiki is once such energy. The main difference between using Reiki and other types of healing energy is first you must be attunened to Reiki by a Teacher. Also it needs to be noted that by using Reiki energy you are not using “life force energy” aka your own limited supply of energy when you perform a healing session. Q. I don’t think I am grounded properly. What can I do to make sure I am grounded and safe? A. Great questions and one I get frequently. Grounding begins by being present in the moment, clear your mine of other things, chatter, negative talk, "to do" lists, etc. After you have cleared your mind, shift your focus to your breath, breath deeply and evenly, you should already feel better, next imagine that you have roots coming out the bottom of your feet, see them in your minds eye going deep, deep down onto the earth. They are connecting you with the planet and "the here and now" or this present moment. The earth is always ready to accept us and glad when we root this way, allow yourself to accept the earth, and breath naturally as you set the intention that you are grounded, present and ready to begin your Reiki session. Don’t forget to clear all expectations and desires, because of course the energy knows what to do, we must just step back and allow it to work. Q. Sometimes after a Reiki session I feel kind of drunk, is that normal? A. Haaha yes, it happen occasionally. The amount of energy being pulled into the body during a session may be immense and you may feel light headed, drunk or even dizzy for a while afterwards. Mostly people report feeling very happy and carefree after an intense session. :D Q. Can Reiki make a situation worse? I was feeling emotions before a session and afterwards I really felt like I needed to quit my job, but I can’t. HELP! A. Another excellent question. The answer to this one is not a simple yes or no. I would guess that you were not happy with your job before the session? What I see happening with my clients is something like this: They are unhappy with something in there life (like a job) but for whatever reason, (inertia or fear usually) they do not change jobs and become more and more miserable. They come in for a session because of the stress and feel better afterwards, BUT usually after this great feeling they return to work and feel like they must make a change NOW. If they do, then usually they are much happier and the stress goes down and things level off for them. So the answer is yes, it may make the problem come forward more intently so that you may address it. But isn’t that whats needed for a healing to occur? Reiki helps the body find balance and this lets us look at our life from a different point of few and hopefully address some of the problems making us stressed and even ill.
